Dari kota palu, oleh Gubernur Sulawesi Tengah Longki Djanggola mengungkapkan Kota palu tidak perlu mengeluarkan biaya besar untuk dikenal seluruh dunia. Fenomenal gerhana matahari total (GMT) yang akan terjadi pada Rabu 9 Maret besok akan membuat nama kota Palu mengguncang seluruh dunia.
Kata Longki "kita harus bersyukur kepada Allah karena dengan adanya GMT kali ini membuat dampak yang luar biasa. Sebuah promosi tanpa harus mengunggah iklan karena fenomenal alam , tanpa dengan biaya yang tinggi , masyarakat dari luar negeri dan dari-dari mana datang" seperti yang kami dapat informasi pada laman Liputan6.com Selasa 8/9/2016.
"Dengan adanya gerhana matahari total ini, Sulawesi Tengah khususnya Palu kini sudah dikenal oleh dunia dan akan berdampak juga pada perekonomian," tambah Longki.
Khusus untuk di Palu, Longki sendiri menjelaskan hampir 3.000 wisatawan mancanegara yang sudah terdata. Sekian banyak dari turis yang terdata untuk menyaksikan gerhana matahari ini mereka memilki profesi sebagai peniliti dan juga keahlian dibidang astrologi, sangat beda dengan turis yang ada di Bali.
"Seperti yang sudah dilihat, mereka bukan turis biasa yang hanya mencari kesenangan ke Indonesia seperti turis di Bali yang hanya telanjang dan mabuk-mabukan disini (Indonesia). Tetapi mereka benar dari peniliti, terdidik serta alamiah." Ungkap Longki.
